When citizens are involved in a motor vehicle accident and the police are called to the scene, Officers will complete a report that will be made available to the public in accordance to the State of Wisconsin 's Open Records Laws. The accident report will be available within ten days in accordance with Wisconsin State law .
Copies of the accident report can be obtained Monday – Friday at the police department. Many insurance companies request a report to be filed with the police for their insurance purposes and claims investigation. If Officers are not called to the scene, citizens can stop at any police department and request a Driver's Report of an Accident and complete it them self.
