New Ordinances

CHRONIC NUISANCE ORDINANCE: (#1083)

Homeowners and Landlords need to know they can be cited for excessive use of police services.

Any premise that has generated more than three calls for police service in a thirty day period for nuisance activities can be charged for our time.

Nuisance activities involve the following: Harassment, Disorderly Conduct ,Battery, Indecent Exposure, Littering, Theft, Arson, Possession of controlled substance, gambling, Trespass to land, keeping  a dangerous animal, excessive noise etc.

The Chief of Police is authorized to determine if the criteria is met

 

REGULATION OF BUILDING NUMBERING (#1176)

This ordinance was created to provide a numbering system for buildings and residences to assist in police protection.

All buildings with alley access to the rear shall have posted on the back of the main building or detached garage a number plate visible and clear of obstructions from the alley right of way.

If the owner of any building required to be numbered fails to do so within a thirty day period after notice is given of,  noncompliance by the building inspector, failure to comply can result in a fine of $50.00 - $200.00.

It's very important and helpful to responding officers when garages located in alleys have posted addresses.

 

PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY (SECTION 9.33)

The failure of proper supervision on the part of custodial parents in connection with misconduct of juveniles may cost the parents regarding damages or expenses cause by misconduct of juveniles. The purpose is to reduce the incidence of misconduct by juveniles by requiring proper supervision and to assure the payment of restitution caused by juvenile misconduct.

The parents may be subject to a penalty of not less than $250.00 or more than $1,000.00

 

VICIOUS DOGS(ORDINANCE 1087)

Any dog with a propensity or tendency to attack when unprovoked, to cause injury to or otherwise threaten the safety of human beings or domestic animals; or any dog harbored primarily for the purpose of dog fighting.

Dangerous dogs means:

Any dog aggressive in nature, training or characteristic behavior, capable of inflicting serious physical harm or death to humans.

Pit Bull means any Pit Bull Terrier defined as American Pit Bull Terrier or Staffordshire  Terrier breed of dog. No person shall return or harbor within City limits a dog previously determined by the Municipal Court to be a vicious dog or Pit Bull.

Any person violating these provisions can be fined from$250.00 to $1,000.00.
